About Us!
Creation
We're a very new team. We began after a month or so of playing Ultimate at
gym, and then when Michael Hoffy went to look up some stuff about it on the
internet, he stumbled on the NJHSU page, and realized that there were local
Ultimate teams that were interested in playing on a regular basis. From
this, he took off on a campaign to start an Ultimate team at the high
school. Unfortunately, there were and still are many problems with the
school accepting a team. A board recognized team meant that you could only
play other board recognized teams, so Michael decided it was much better to
have the team as an informal group, which it is to date. Eventually Mike
Hamm, volunteered to co-captain the team, and was gladly accepted as another
person to help out. Three practices were organized for the unofficial team,
all more or less working, and then, a month after the last one, we played
East Brunswick. Coming out of it exhausted and beaten, we were determined to
improve.
Over the summer we held daily pickup games organized by Dan Jobbins at the
high school -- this being the basic practice for most of the summer, and
after that the team flourished into what it is now.
Our Name
Our name is another story. For Spirit Hall 1999, The Senior class wanted to
advertise the presence of the ultimate team, however, at that point the team
was unnamed. So, a bunch of the seniors on the team sat around for half an
hour debating names for a team. After discarding everything they came up
with, they settled on "The Enforcers." This came from Ross, who had earned
the nickname at CTY three years earlier (I think) when he went to receive a
disc, and broke another guy's nose. Oh, well, you know Ross.
